Pioneer Park
My wife and I along with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law were in Pioneer Park yesterday(Thurs. 1/13/06). We were viewing the progress on Broadway-Promenade and as we were strolling through the park we came upon a couple engaged in a lewd sexual act at 2PM in the afternoon. This was also witnessed by 2 women who were passing by( They actually yelled at the couple that they would be confronted by the police if they continued). Is this what awaits us as new condo owners in the city of Sarasota. At the very least we would hope that the park would be more vigorously patrolled by the Sarasota police.
We hope that this was an isolated incident but as a runner I have witnessed vagrants sleeping in the park. With tennis courts and an athletic field I would not want to see young children exposed to this kind of behavior.
The entire community must express their outrage at this kind of public behavior.

inadmissible
This kind of behavior along with taking drugs in public or drinking in public is absolutely inadmissible. For the legal activities I enumerated there are special places for them and for the illegal ones, well, I guess your place is the only place.
Well the Sarasota City Manager agrees
If Mike McNees doesn't think Sarasota is mean ....
Pioneer Park is like Gillespie Park in many aspects...
Every Sunday, in Gillespie Park, we have some kind hearted folk who provide food for the homeless. Unfortunately, the homeless have no respect for themselves, let alone the people around them.
Take this, for example
As well as how Joe has mentioned, we are so mean to the homeless
Logan
Meanest City in the country
Bruce,
We are already the meanest city in the country according to the homeless rights advocates...
I am on your side. No matter how you feel about drugs / prostitution when done in public we are all the victim.
