school ave viewI have been watching Payne Park - the park and the surrounding neighborhoods for quite a while now. I am really impressed with the recent improvements to the park. It is a great city asset - the tennis courts and skateboard park bring people from a wide area to the park.
The events that will begin to be scheduled there will I am sure bring even more people. So it is pretty clear this is not just a "neighborhood" park -- it's as big as some neighborhoods...
I think it's fair that a wide range of people have a stake in the future of the area that's why I am glad to see the School Ave Charrette process happening. Go over to the new website and let them know what you think.
It's interesting to see how many newspaper inches this process has gotten. I agree that various people expressing their vision is a good thing, I am still a little confused about what Laura Sperling had to say in
(I have to agree 4-way stop signs are "stupid" - my word.) I am just not sure a survey is much better than any other way of discussing a topic -- it's very hard to come up with "fair and balanced" questions. There just isn't any simple easy way to discuss complex issues - especially with the mix of "rights" the various groups have. I remember reading in this blog --- "there are 50,000 visions for Sarasota" -- and even mine is fuzzy most of the time and in most places.
PS If you think the two websites look pretty similar .... they were both built by me using drupal my favorite web software.... I hope you like the clean minimal design -- my disclaimer I just built the other website I don't control the content .... but it was fun to do.
