I attended the Natural Capitalism seminar featuring speakers from the Rocky Mountain Institute
It was put together by the Sarasota County Economic Development Corporation which I think is a good indicator of how "cool" Sarasota is ...
The theme was:
Synchronizing Business, Community & Environment
I really enjoyed the morning. It was just a little suprising that there were over 175 registered people attending.
Some websites I heard mentioned include:
Florida West Coast Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council
Florida House Institute for Sustainable Development
I am going to try to devote a lot of blog space to this issue.

Thanks you for your work
Laura,
I am happy to have your comment. I think it was a great seminar .... please come back and visit again.
I just read your story of how the seminar came about .... very well done. I for one would like to congratulate you for sticking with the mission.
Keep us posted on the goings on at the RCD .... I am interested in the "community food system" .
Thanks to all partners and participants
I would like to send out a big thanks to the community for such strong support for Natural Capitalism in Sarasota County. After spending 3 days with the Rocky Mountain Institute folks, I can say that they are impressed with what we are doing.
It was a great sign of the birth of a new era in our sustainability movement. So many people attended, including our public officials, business leaders, non-profits, students, teachers, and others.
The energy was amazing! Special thanks go to Michele Mician, City of Sarasota Neighborhood Partnership Office who was the Natural Capitalism Gallery Curator and to Laurel Schiller, Florida Native Plants, Inc who was our Natural Capitalist of the day!
Keep the energy going!
Laura
