You may know I like to ride my bike around town. The Alliance for Responsible Transportation is a pretty cool group trying to promote safe bike riding in Sarasota...
Please help them out if you can:
BIKE DRIVE KICKOFF AT ROSEMARY COURT
Sarasota,FL–The bicycle/pedestrian advocacy groupAlliance for Responsible Transportation (A.R.T.) is hosting a free Saturday morning event to kick off a weeklong bike drive. On July 29, the public is invited to stop by historic Rosemary Court in downtown Sarasota to drop off bikes or learn about bicycle repair and maintenance.

WHAT: Bike drive kickoff with free bike education and repair
WHEN: Saturday, July 29, 2006, 8:00 a.m. to noon
WHERE: Rosemary Court, 810 Central Ave, Sarasota,FL
THE EVENT
Bring a bike to donate, or bring in your own bike for repair! Bike mechanics will be available to fix bikes all morning. Mechanics will also offer short workshops on simple bike maintenance and repair (workshops at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.). Learn the basics of caring for your bike, including how to change a tire, patch a flat, and maintain a chain.
Food vendors and information tables from local organizations will be set up in Rosemary’s beautiful courtyard, and we’ll have music all morning. It will be a great family event and a great motivation to dust off your bike and start enjoying Sarasota on two wheels.
DONATING BIKES
Have your kids gone to college and left their bikes rusting in the garage? Have you upgraded to a shinier toy? A tax deduction receipt is available for donations worth $100 or more. People who need bikes can sign up for a work trade to work on their future bikes! (Yes, we’ll teach!)
