For thousands of years, the booming voice of the taiko, or Japanese drum, has called the community together in ceremony and celebration. Gather on the bayfront of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall for this free outdoor concert – our holiday gift to you to share with the whole family! Portland Taiko is sure to inspire, astound and energize. Let the rhythm of these ancient drums transport you back to centuries-old traditions and forward to new expressions that will shake your body and rock your soul! There will be hands-on drum making and drum playing so bring you own chairs, blankets and drums to this special community event and feel the bayfront vibrate with the musical excitement of Portland Taiko!
