Al Gore's documentary about global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth", will be showing at Sarasota's Burns Court Cinemas on Friday, June 23rd. Local experts, including New College's Dr. Meg Lowman are slated to participate in a panel discussion following the opening night screening, with other events surrounding the run of the film currently in planning stages.

Big Night Out is a 7 piece tropical style dance band that blends Latin, Caribbean, Funk & Motown. An explosive horn section and a pulsing conga add to the bouncing rhythm section and passionate bilingual vocals of Joni Adno. Big Night Out has quickly become one of southwest Florida's
most exciting new dance bands on the scene. Big Night Out was voted "Best Bilingual Cover Band 2005" by the Weekly Planet.

This benefit concert will be performed in the air-conditioned Beatrice
Friedman Theater with table-style seating. Doors open at 6:30pm for patrons to enjoy a "picnic" dinner (must be kosher-style - *No meat with dairy, no pork or shellfish).

Sway, Swoon and Dance to the sounds of upbeat tropical music from one of Sarasota's favorite local bands. The theater will be set up for dancing in front of the stage, so add those dancin' shoes to your picnic and remember, we'll have great desserts ready for you to satisfy your after-dancing sweet-tooth.

Soft beverages/beer/wine and desserts available for purchase. Concerts begin at 7:30pm and run 60 to 90 minutes. Admission is $10 ($7 for JCC and WSLR members). Seating first-come, first-served.

Red Bug Slough Preserve, 5200 Beneva Road, Sarasota. Meet at the preserve entrance one-half mile south of Proctor Road.

Why is it happening
This will be a hands-on hike for families to learn about insects that eat plants and discover evidence of their voracious hunger

Call to reserve your spot, as space is limited. Participants should bring a light jacket, a hat and drinking water. To fully experience the swamp habitat, wear shoes or boots that can get wet.

Come celebrate the flavor and diversity of American beer. There will be over 30 beers to sample from around the nation and music from right here in Sarasota! Los Rumberos, a latin dance band, will be performing inside of the store and Road Block will be playing reggae on the main stage in front of the store.

The cost is $10 per person which includes a beer stein. Half of the ticket price will be donated to WLSR 96.5 Grassroots Community Radio. Tickets available for purchase on the night of the event at Whole Foods, 1451 1st Street, Sarasota.

This Saturday, July 29th from 8am until noon the A.R.T. will be having its first summer bike drive at Rosemary Court. We are asking people of the community to donate bikes that are not being used so that the A.R.T. can fix them up and get them to people who need them. Each event has a featured speaker and then an interactive conversation takes place that focuses on one of the Earth Charter principles.
