Why is it happening

The 5K and half-marathon runs are part of the "Carlton Challenge." (A half-marathon run is 13 miles.) The runs are sponsored by Bikesenjava, Caldwell Trust Company, The Friends of the Carlton Reserve and Sarasota County Parks. Both runs will be off-road events; routes go through a variety of environmental habitats within the reserve.

This is a chance for participants to take their running skills to a new level or get started on a new exercise program while enjoying the outdoors.
