HISTORIC HOUSE TOUR #2—Laurel Park Neighborhood Association STYLE\:
Concurrent with the tour sponsored by the Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation\, some hardworking residents of the neighborhood are planning to conduct a walking tour of some additional historic properties in Laurel Park.
Walking tour houses will all be marked by balloons and roped off from the Sidewalk\, so that people don't get confused about which houses are open. About 400 copies of the tour itinerary will be printed. Chilled water available for sale and t-shirts for donations (look for this at the park or Melody's Day Spa). Tables and chairs will be set up in the park for those who want to rest or picnic.

County seeks comment on zoning ordinance changes
Sarasota County planners will take public comment on proposed amendments to the county’s zoning code during an open house from 6\:30-8\:30 p.m. Monday\, March 13\, at the Selby Library Auditorium\, 1331 First St.\, Sarasota.
Sarasota County is developing amendments to the zoning code regarding affordable housing and the Sarasota 2050 plan. Planning staff will present the new rules to the Sarasota County Board of Commissioners during a public hearing in July.

Downtown Density Bonus and Attainable Housing Policy\: Comprehensive Plan Amendment application 06-PA-01 proposes a Density Bonus and Attainable Housing Policy that will allow the potential for increased residential densities on individual building sites in order to provide opportunities for construction of attainable housing units. Attainable housing is defined as housing that is affordable to families with incomes in the 60% to 120% range of Area Median Income [AMI]. Projects approved under this policy would be required to provide a minimum of 10% of the total dwellings units in the attainable price range. The program would be applicable to the Downtown Urban Mixed-Use land use classification.
As part of this Policy\, the following areas will be considered for amendment to the “Downtown Urban Mixed-Use†land use classification on the Future Land Use Map\:
· Central Cocoanut Neighborhood\: currently designated Community Commercial\, Community Office/Institutional and Multiple Family-Medium Density
· Rosemary Neighborhood\: currently designated Downtown Urban General
· 4th Street Lots\: currently designated Downtown Urban General
