Sarasota Herald Tribune asks is it a bubble?
Lets hope not ... I like the equity I have in my home (it feels good...) I don't need anymore 20% / year gains but not dropping is good.
This big story about the change coming to Gillespie Park is pretty interesting. Since I know some of the people in the story I believe they are out to make the neighborhood a better place (ok and get a good return on investment - that is a good thing not a force for evil !! ). Just go to Gillespie Park at N Osprey Ave and 8th St right now on Sunday around "brunch" and see just how nice the park is .... bet you won't get out of your car...
I don't see anyone carrying out "racist gentrification" as a secret plan. I do think we have "economic segregation" going on. Sarasota needs to quickly find ways to keep neighborhoods places of mixed levels of housing prices. There are many groups working on it we just need more results...
One solution is to raise the income levels of the "poor" so they can afford to live in more better housing ... the Central Economic Development Center in east Bradenton seems like a good way to do that.
