In his letter from home column in today's SHT Harold Bubil is "Getting the point" he says we have a 14 month supply of condos in the $1 - $2 million range but only 2.4 months supply in the $250 - 500 K range.
This is not quite "affordable housing" (whatever that means) but it is the price point we need to cater to for downtown Sarasota to thrive. This is the home price for the young professional and empty nesters. I think there would be even a stronger market for townhouses -- in the walk / bike to downtown area -- in this price range to escape the monthly maintenance fees.
