Local students fare well at national science contest

Two Sarasota High School graduates won top honors at what's billed as the world's largest pre-college science fair.

Ben Powell and Cuong Nguyen of Sarasota High School were declared overall winners at Sarasota's Regional Science Fair, earning them the opportunity to attend the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. They were among 1,447 finalists at the competition.
